Myths:

1. Lifting heavy weights makes women bulky.

Nope. I lift heavy and do NOT have a traditional bodybuilding high rep/ low weight programming. I am not bulky.

2. You need to "cut out" certain foods during show prep (i.e. Fruit, dairy, processed foods).

Nope. I followed an entire prep IIFYM. The only thing I cut towards the end was dairy because I am lactose-intolerant and usually manage it with the help of Lactaid pills. I wanted to make it easier on myself, so I cut dairy because I felt like it--not because I HAD to.

3. High carbs are bad.

Nope. For me carbs are amazing. My body does not react well with high FATS and so my fats are consistently low (35-50g) year round. I figured this out through experimentation over the course of two years counting calories. Everyone is different and there is absolutely no one way to do show prep or lose weight in general.

How I got to where I'm at now

I am a gym rat. I train hard--squat, bench, deadlift.  I hit the gym 6 days a week twice a day.  I follow a strict diet plan and only allow myself one cheat day per week.

What is Pink Muscle Fest?

WHAT IS PINKMuscleFEST? For those of you not familiar with this very special event -this is the third year for this incredible event. Last year the show was incredibly uplifting and inspiring and we hope to see you this year on October 3, 2016 - Here's a bit of background on PINKMuscleFEST and how it came to be:

PINKMuscleFEST is a unique NPC Event. The show was created to honor a woman named Wanda - the inspiration behind PINKMuscleFEST. When she was initially diagnosed with cancer, she was originally told she only had 3-6 months to live, but she never gave up and never gave in – Wanda was such an amazing woman and gave this disease such a BRAVE, extraordinary fight – never once wavering during her 9 year battle! On March 9, 2014, she sadly lost her fight. PINKMuscleFEST is now a celebration of not only her fight, but a chance to support those who have been affected by cancer as well as an opportunity to support the cause, celebrate those who have won their battle, and to raise awareness and come together for those still fighting and to remember and honor those who have lost their battles.

This NPC National Qualifying event is also a charity benefit for Breast Cancer Awareness & Research and this year we are donating to various area Breast Cancer charities. No matter how small we start - I know that together we can all make PINKMuscleFEST grow into something INCREDIBLE!
